Steve Hauschildt
Nonlin

Steve Hauschildt has been long admired in these parts, firstly for his work with experimental electronic trio Emeralds and then as a solo artist with classic albums such as Where All Is Fled and Strands. His new album, Nonlin, is his sixth and sees him evolve yet further. Another classic? We shall see, but the chances are good.

Organic Dial
1000

Remember Emeralds? Wondering what they've been up to since their untimely break up? Well John Elliott's been exploring dub and beatless musics alongside Andrew Veres as Organic Dial. On 1000 (which may also be called ????) distills their sound even more fully than their previous efforts, to create something extremely direct.

Imaginary Softwoods
Gold Fiction Loop Garden

Netherlands imprint Field Records unearths a long-lost and criminally forgotten early synth / new age / kosmische gem by erstwhile Emerald and Spectrum Spools curator John Elliott - as Imaginary Softwoods. 2016 was a simpler, humbler age, and the album was cassette only. Enter Field to set things right at last.

Steve Hauschildt
Where All Is Fled

Former glittering Emeralds member Steve Hauschildt’s new solo LP is a typically expansive suite of pieces, pulling in synthesis, field recordings and acoustic instrumentation to form some heady trips. Where All Is Fled wavers between abstraction and melodies, mostly hitting that sweet spot where neither dominates. On Kranky.

Steve Hauschildt
Strands

Steve Hauschildt, formerly of synth-wizards Emeralds, is still going strong as a solo artist: this is his fourth solo record for the ever-excellent Kranky label. Strands is a particularly personal release for Hauschildt, as it engages with aspects of his Cleveland hometown. Expect all the graceful electronic pulsations you’ve come to love, arranged to perfection.

Mark McGuire
Vision Upon Purpose

Great 90s style early day graphic design on this. This is the guy from Emeralds I mixed up with Steve Hauschildt last week. This is the one that does play guitar and makes stuff perfect to soundtrack an aerial helicopter-eye view of a golf course. Mastered by the genius that is James Plotkin. The album would be nothing....NOTHING...without him.

Steve Hauschildt
Dissolvi

Former Emeralds synth wizard Steve Hauschildt returns with 'Dissolvi' the name taken from the latin phrase cupio dissolvi, meaning "I wish to be dissolved". Let's hope Steve isn't dissolved any time soon as here he presents another example of his work which contains techno pulses, synth haze, the voice of Julianna Barwick.
