Ekca Liena & Spheruleus
Mapping The Boundary Layer

Winning the prize for this month's most awful press release is a collaborative effort from Ekca Liena & Spheruleus. I'll spare you the excruciating details that I've had to wade through to find out that it is a blend of electronics and acoustic instruments such as zither, violin, harmonica and glockenspiel on a work which soundtracks the atmosphere around us. Great cover art it has to be said which kind of reminds me of the Beach Boys Surf's Up in a weird kind of way.

Gravity and Grace

Public House Recordings alumni Ecka Liena offer their follow-up to Graduals in Gravity and Grace, another gorgeous soundtrack to shadows and solitude. Utilising non-musical sound as a structuring device, this record houses some of the band's most ambitious ideas to date. Come for the immense, dramatic soundscapes and stay for the never-ending melancholy.

Slow Music For Rapid Eye Movement

Originally released in a tin box on Dead Pilot in 2008 our very own imprint Public House Recordings have now given this stellar ambient/post rock/drone/electronica lost classic a brand new vinyl lease of life. Stretched out ambient music with a collage-y feel, like the best bits of Stars of the Lid, Loscil and Tim Hecker all rolled into one. Very limited (to 250) vinyl in reverse board sleeve.

Graduals

Finally a new solo release by peaceful droner Daniel W J Mackenzie, also known as Ekca Liena, to follow up the wonderful Slow Music for Rapid Eye Movement. Graduals features more absent-minded and carefully placed plucked strings, melancholy guitar solos and heavy droning synthesizers, all mixed to a tasty and dreamy total.
