Roger Limb and The BBC Radiophonic Workshop
The Box Of Delights (Original TV Soundtrack)

In 1984, Roger Limb - with the aid of the Radiophonic Workshop - took on the job of scoring the BBC’s adaptation of Masefield’s 1935 fantasy adventure classic ‘The Box of Delights’. Silva Screen are reissuing the score which combined orchestral work with the kind of innovative electronic tampering you’d expect from the Radiophonic Workshop.

The Radiophonic Workshop
Possum

Possum is a new British horror film from the mind of Matthew Holness (Garth Marenghi’s Dark Place). It is the first time that The Radiophonic Workshop have scored a film. Their 50 years as pioneering electronic sound-makers, known for the original Dr. Who theme and who have counted Delia Derbyshire among their number, are the perfect fit for Holness’ weird vision. 6 panel digipak CD on Room 13.

Peter Howell and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop
Doctor Who: The Five Doctors

What an exciting thing, particularly for fans of everything 'Doctor Who': the soundtrack to 90-minute 1983 BBC TV special The Five Doctors, marking 20 years of The Doctor. Peter Davison was joined by Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker and Richard Hurndall. The eerie and highly evocative music was composed by Peter Howell at the Radiophonic Workshop -- originally mixed in mono but included here is a newer, subtle stereo image. A later version mixed in Dolby Surround was requested for the Special Edition, this version is also present and correct. Double LP, presented by Silva Screen in a gatefold sleeve with a nice design by Clayton Hickman.

Delia Derbyshire / Brian Hodgson / David Vorhaus
Electronic

This will be of fascination to fans of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop as it is a 1969 collaboration between two of their best and brightest and American musician David Vorhaus with whom they then went on to form the ridiculous experimental electronic band White Noise. These tracks were intended as TV production music and many were used on cult 60's programme 'The Tomorrow People'.

Tristram Cary / Brian Hodgson and The BBC Radiophonic Workshop
Doctor Who - The Daleks

Get a piece of television history with this astonishing soundtrack from Tristram Cary and Brian Hodgson for the screen debut of the Daleks in Doctor Who. Having served as a naval officer specialising in radar, Cary’s music undulates and bings with cosmic dread. These atmospheric pieces introduced the Daleks to British screens in 1963 and they retain the same menace to this day.

Delia Derbyshire and Elsa Stansfield
Circle Of Light – Original Electronic Soundtrack

An absolutely essential purchase for any fans of BBC Radiophonic Orchestra/early day synth, this very rare soundtrack created in 1972 by legendary composer Delia Derbyshire (along with artist Elsa Stansfield) finally gets a re-issue on the ever inquisitive Trunk records. They came up with a mix of sound design, tape manipulation and natural environmental sounds for Anthony Roland's 1972 film about the slides of radical stills photographer Pamela Bone.

Radiophonic Workshop
Burials In Several Earths

Interestingly this is actual new material by the Radiophonic Workshop (no BBC as the corporation does no funding of weird music anymore). The collective have produced a new suite of synth compositions that hark back to their classic work while exploring new areas of sound and combines analogue synth and cutting edge digital technologies.

Delia Derbyshire / Barry Bermange
Inventions For Radio: The Dreams

Reissue of a spooky classic from Delia Derbyshire, first broadcast on the radio to an unsuspecting public in 1964. The Dreams collages together recordings of people describing their dreams with electronic sound representing the sensations of the dreams. With the technology of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop at her fingertips, Derbyshire creates some pretty special atmospheres here.

Peter Howell and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop
Through A Glass Darkly

Through a Glass Darkly is a seminal document in terms of synth music. Peter Howell began work on the album in 1977 with the brief to create music to fill one side of an LP. The result is a low budget classic and ranks alongside great works by the likes of Vangelis and Jean-Michel Jarre. Through A Glass Darkly is available on 180g vinyl LP.

BBC Radiophonic Workshop
Fourth Dimension

A vinyl only reissue of Paddy Kingsland of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop's 1973 solo album, 'Fourth Dimension'. Much sought after by synth-sniffers the world over, this record features plenty of VCS 3 and 'Delaware' Synthi 100 action backed by a 1970's session band. Includes funfair favourite and Doctor Who Theme B-side 'Reg'.

BBC Radiophonic Workshop
The Soundhouse

The BBC Radiophonic Workshop was responsible for nurturing talents such as Delia Derbyshire, and developing madness through experimental hand-cut tape loops and signal generators before synthesizers were available. This is a reissue of the first work made by them with the invention of the first digital polyphonic sampler, which cut their workload massively.

BBC Radiophonic Workshop
