GAS
Pop

Pop by GAS is regarded as a bit of classic. The fourth album, originally released in 2000, by Worlfgang Voigt’s electronic music project is seen as the album where he showed us his clearest vision yet. Pitchfork regard this album rather highly too, rating it as the 11th best ambient album of all time. 3LP on Kompakt.

GAS
BOX

Comprehensive and utterly essential edition of the complete works of Wolfgang Voigt's seminal techno project Gas. Comes in highly collectible 10LP+4CD box set, including art book with previously unreleased artwork and edits never before released on vinyl. Voigt produced these seminal albums between 1995 and 2000 and pretty much re-invented electronic music with a series of foggy dub techno and loop-based ambience that still stands up as a high point of the genre.

GAS
Königsforst

Warm on the heels of last November’s Zauberberg reissue, it’s the equally welcome Königsforst. Following on from its predecessor, it has all the fundamentals of the signature Gas sound: thickets of grainy, slowed-down strings and brass ushered along by mucky, throbbing kicks into lush forested reveries.

GAS
Zauberberg

Wolfgang Voigt’s second album under his lauded forest techno moniker GAS is back, singly tree-issued on Kompakt. First released in ‘97, Zauberberg offers Voigt’s revolving branches of hazy, throbbing ambient at their most ambiguous, as if unsure of what really waits out there in the woods. The third track especially is one of his masterpieces.

GAS
Rausch

You wait years for a new GAS album and two come along (almost) at once. Hot on the heels of last year's 'Narkopop' this is a different kettle of fish altogether, consisting of one long track which you are meant to listen to in one sitting. Wolfgang Voigt's work is ideal for this long form presentation. He's possibly less good at poetry though, so we won't reproduce in full the poem he's written to accompany the work.

GAS
Narkopop

Well what do we have here then? Following on from that enormous box set of his greatest work of 20 years vintage, Wolfgang Voigt re-ignites his Gas project with a new album which, though it continues the thick foggy sonics of earlier work introduces dense and sometimes atonal sonics to the magical mist with that pulsing kick drum as always ever present.

Voigt & Voigt
Speicher 99

When one Voigt just isn’t enough for you, you have to turn to Voigt & Voigt. That’s the brothers Reinhard and Wolfgang of course, the latter also being GAS. This is really an extremely reliable production proposition, so just lean back and relax into these two tracks of luscious top-grade techno. Speicher 99 is a 12” on Kompakt Extra.

Wolfgang Voigt
Apodiktische Gewissheit

New work from the Gas-man Wolfgang Voigt, extracted from an AV art installation he has produced with Gerhard Mantz in Cologne. Apodiktische Gewissheit, presented here in two versions, is a pulsing, undulating digital landscape that apparently mirrors the flow of Mantz’s images, though you’ll have no problem enjoying Voigt’s hypnotic work at home. 12” on Profan.

Wolfgang Voigt the maestro of minimal / ambient techno, graced London with his presence a little while ago, performing Rückverzauberung to a rapt audience at St John-at-Hackney Church. This double LP features the full performance, the resonance of the room adding extra depth and power to Voigt’s sound. 180g 2LP on Astral Industries.

Ruckverzauberung 10 / National Park

Exciting times for Wolfgang Voigt fans, as the German ambient-techno overlord harks back to his Gas days… Ruckverzauberung 10 / National Park is an hour-long, single track, improvised from processed orchestral instruments as an installation for a newly opened national park. Gorgeous work, as you’d expect. On Profan.

Protest – Versammlung 1

Some people need their own space to do their own thing. That’s why Wolfgang Voigt set up Profan, for those productions that Kompakt thought were outside their techno and ambient focus. Using his new freedom, Voigt has produced a bunch of sweet tracks. And this compilation features the very best of them.

Zukunft Ohne Menschen

Wolfgang Voigt presents ten pieces of music and ten pieces of visual art for this CD/book titled Zukunft Ohne Menschen. The music is highly conceptual machine music as premiered in a sound installation in Cologne. Difficult one to get your head round, lots of songs called Z.O.M, but a really lovely thing however you spin it. Limited, from Profan, and ready for the coffee table.
