Amebix Vinyl, CD & tapes from this artist at Norman Records
Not one of the more famous international football tournaments, Slovenia 86. In fact, we can’t recall a single notable incident from any of the games. However, the opening ceremony will live long in our minds. You remember - Amebix played? They ran through a set that included music from their first two LPs Arise! and Monolith? Hmmm … perhaps we’ve made the football bit up. Anyway, the gig definitely happened, and now the crust punk OGs have seen fit to have the audio from the gig tidied up and released on vinyl for the first time.
- Vinyl LP (AMBEA005LP)
- Coloured vinyl
This Amebix record has had a slightly tricky release history (something to do with label wranglings), but the important thing is that this slab of classic heavy rock is now properly available again. What’s more, this reissue of Monolith: The Power Remains adds one side of demos and one side of a live gig in Bath, Somerset. Fresh liner notes too! Just 1000 2LP copies out there.
- Vinyl Double LP (AMBEA007LP)
- Limited edition
Essential reissue action here from crust-punk pioneers Amebix. Their debut 'Arise!' came out in 1985, a year before the term was even coined, but its apocalyptic blend of snotty anarcho punk and sludgy metal riffs proved hugely influential to a whole generation of imitators. Now you can finally own a copy for less than £50.
Silent since the late 80s, Amebix, a duo of the reclusive swordsmith Rob Miller and his brother Stig have had their lineup augmented with the addition of drummer Roy Mayorga (Soulfly, Stone Sour). Sonic Mass is their first album in over 20 years and their third in total.
This reissue is available on double red vinyl LP, housed in a gatefold sleeve and CD.
