Here, Keszler presents a vivid sonic collage of melodic percussion and drums overlaid with electro-acoustic instrumentation, ruminating on the confusion that defines modern life.

Andrew Pekler has a curious proposition for you: 'Tristes Tropiques', it would appear, has been designed to feel like field documentation of an alien world. Wobbly, twinkly, fuzzy, hazy sounds all jostle around awkwardly, giving off a very strong atmosphere. Although what atmosphere exactly, no-one can say.

Andrew PM Hunt was once frontman from an -er.. outfit called Outfit. But in recent years he has been in more free-flowing mode with Dialect. He has released several albums of electro-acoustic works of which 'Advanced Myth' is the latest. It is a meditative work inspired by Laurie Spiegel, kosmische and textural electronica. It actually got released digitally in 2015 and this is its first time on vinyl.

'Grapes from The Estate' was originally released by Touch in 2004 then later by Southern Lord, and now on Oren Ambarchi's own Black Truffle label. Good job this one is being kept in print - it's a modern classic for drone/guitar ambient heads. It saw the artist expand his sound palette from mostly guitar tones to subtly incorporating keyboards, bells and percussion. This is minimalism that despite its seemingly austere surface is full of warmth and human emotion.

French musician Félicia Atkinson and American multi-instrumentalist Jefre Cantu-Ledesma release their third collaborative album ‘Un Hiver En Plein été’. Initial sessions were completed together in New York in late 2019 before the pandemic meant the finishing touches had to be applied remotely. Together, they weave a beautiful aural tapestry from acoustic and electronic sources.

This latest LP from Christina Vantzou is a bit of a love-in. Getting together with Angel Deradoorian, Forma's John Also Bennett, Clarice Jensen and a fair few others, the Belgian composer allowed her collaborators to add or delete parts at will. Surprisingly, the record doesn’t feel cluttered, coming across more as the work of a hive-mind operating under Vantzou’s guiding hand. Tracks like ‘Some Limited And Waning Memory’, for instance, are full of the ambient minimalism and open spaces that characterised her three previous albums.

'Plonk' is the first album in six years from master musician Huerco S. (aka the less exotically named Brian Leeds).  Leeds has worked under many different aliases over the years but 'Plonk' is something new altogether  - elements of trap and drill inhabit the gaseous soul ambience of previous works on an album which aims to reflect the lamplit glow of nighttime cities.

Italian composer Egisto Macchi composed the soundtrack to Mino Guerrini’s 1968 crime thriller ‘Gangsters ‘70’ - known to the rest of the world as ‘Days Of Fire’. For it, Macchi went into highly experimental mode, forging an intense compound of free psychedelic jazz exploration with dynamic tension and catchy melodies to match the incredible flow of the film.

Experienced TV and film soundtrack composer Yugo Kanno created the original score to ‘JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind’, the 2018 anime adapted from the fifth story arc of the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure series. ‘Vol. 1: Overture’ gathers twenty-six of the most memorable themes from it.

Legendary Slovenians Laibach return with a new album/soundtrack with 'IRON SKY : THE COMING RACE'. This is the second 'IRON SKY' they have worked on having previously soundtracked the original film in 2012. Once again we get an epic and cinematic work for the dark comedy which details humanity's attempts to live on a Nazi moon base.

Highlights from the original soundtracks to series one and two of Netflix’s comedy-drama-mystery ‘Russian Doll’, scored by Joe Wong. Consisting of a number of musical leitmotifs that make sense both alone and stacked on top of one another - like the eponymous Russian doll - his ethereal backdrops complemented the other song choices more prominent in the series.

Soundtrack master Danny Elfman is at it again with this musical score for the coming-of-age drama 'Wednesday'. Here, he works with fellow multi-Emmy award-winning composer Chris Bacon (Bates Motel, The Tick) on a score for a series focussing on Wednesday Addams teenage years which sees Elfman re-unite with director Tim Burton.

Generally the rule of thumb with latter-day The Beach Boys and Brian Wilson material is the more unreleased it is, the better it is. Therefore this soundtrack to Wilson's 2021 chat documentary with the unrelated Brent Wilson is a worthy addition to his catalogue in that it contains several tracks from his unfathomably shelved 1990s-era collaborations with Andy Paley. The one new track  - a collaboration with My Morning Jacket's Jim James is just downright odd and slightly scary.

The original score to 2023 British comedy-drama ‘Rye Lane’, composed by London-based producer and musician Kwes. He manages to evoke the colourful culture of Peckham and Brixton through evocative electronica and on-point production that complements the other song choices in the soundtrack perfectly.

Despite the fact that Jim O'Rourke has been responsible for dozens of film scores, 'Hands That Bind' is actually the very first to receive a proper release. It's no secret that the man is something of a cinema buff, which combined with his remarkable ears and seemingly infinite vision and talent make him well-suited to scoring films. Here he creates the atmospheres and moods for this gothic drama set in the prairies of Alberta, Canada. His mesmerising sonics enhance the cinematography and portrayal of rural North American Working life. Recommended for fans of his amazing Steamroom series of digital downloads.
