We’ve been fans of Eli Keszler’s output since he started sending us his self-released albums on his own R.E.L Records imprint well over a decade ago. He’s since released some mighty fine albums for PAN, ESP-Disk, NNA Tapes and now lands on Shelter Press with a real peach of an album in ‘Stadium’. The restless pulse and chaos of his home city New York runs through the rhizome like rhythms of this album and there’s a wonderful timeless blue jazz quality that at times could almost be a lost film noir soundtrack, and at others seems to exist in a time and space all its own. A real cracker that constantly rewards over repeated late night listens.
Eli Keszler is a drummer and composer of fierce precision. Last Signs Of Speed is his first solo album since 2012’s installation-based Catching Net, and it adds dubby production touches and other acoustic instruments into his tightly-wound percussion constructions. Double LP with a metallic screen-printed sleeve on Empty Editions.
Oren Ambarchi & Eli Keszler
Oren Ambarchi is currently the living embodiment of Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop", whether you like it or not: the dude just can't stop putting stuff out. 'Alps' is another collaboration, this time with drone artist and part-time percussionist Eli Keszler, and wades through a mix of feedback-driven noise and organic dissonant drumming. This party will never die.
Here’s an artist’s book to accompany Eli Keszler’s rather large NEUM installation, a creation of mechanically-activated piano wires in a huge space. Keszler, whose tightly-focused experimental-percussive works have been released on PAN, has filled this book with drawings, diagrams and sketches pertaining to the installation, as well as three silk-screened inserts. Beautifully-printed in a limited edition of 100.
