MGMT

So much for turning a new leaf. The acid fried duo of Benjamin Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden aka MGMT have desperately tried to shake off their early success citing the 'Oracular Spectacular' era as one of naivety and good fortune. Ridiculously good fortune mind you; with over 1 million sales worldwide and 3 absol...view item »

Oracular Spectacular/Time to Pretend (Double sided promotional POSTER!!)

I've always been a little baffled by double-sided posters. Are you supposed to hang it somewhere where it can be viewed on both sides like a window? Or do you change its side on your wall every month or so like a calendar? Anyway this MGMT double sided poster is well priced and has the lovely 'Oracular Spectacular' album art....view item »

Congratulations

Lauded as the true heirs to Flaming Lips' majestic widescreen psychedelic pop throne (I'd like to see what that physically manifested itself as, can someone do me a drawing?), these guys put me off by dressing like berks and having some woeful R1 DJ voicing adverts for their last "opus" late at night whilst I was trying to watch something...view item »

Oracular Spectacular

Some bands have it from the start, MGMT is one of those bands. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn't heard the electro-funk groove of "Electric Feel" or, even if you don't know it by name, the keyboard hook of "Kids" is guaranteed to get stuck in your heard for hours. 'Oracular Spectacular' could be called a pop classic but it's an al...view item »

Electric Feel

OK that cleaned up OK after all. No need for the filthy B word. MGMT.... their 2nd UK single is in and it's called 'Electric Feel'. I was told to expect Mercury Rev, Flaming Lips from these guys and that's not what I get from this single. I get Shakatak or Shalamar... some early 80's style funk disco. Funnily enough I quite like the tune though I'm...view item »
