Yann Tiersen Vinyl, CD & tapes by Yann Tiersen at Norman Records
Emotive ivories motifsmith Yann Tiersen has a new studio, venue and community centre named The Eskal on ol’ Ushant, the Breton Celtic Sea island he calls home. ALL is his first album recorded in this studio. It features basslines dancing with emotive right-hand arpeggios on the ivories, evocative field recordings of things such as children’s voices and charming reversed-tape textures with post-rock guitar ambience. ALL you could ever want.

Yann Tiersen with another one of those plink-plonk nice-nice records he's made his money off all these years. Hent is a Yann Tiersen album, which means that it's an album that sounds like it was made by Yann Tiersen.
Tinkle the bitten ivories, Mr. Tiersen. Play your pretty song. It will all be in vain. It will all be for naught.

"Ten tracks. Ten locations. Ten field recordings. One piano". So begins the press release as if previewing some BBC proms experiment. But it neatly sums up what this LP is all about. French composing maestro Tiersen has written pieces for ten locations and made field recordings of the actual places then later on dubbed his piano twinklings atop. Could this be a return to his 'Amerie' style sounds? We wait with bated breath.

Yann Tiersen is a man that doesn’t like to be stereotyped, defined or pigeon holed which makes my job of describing him quite difficult. This is his third studio album, featuring violin, guitar, vocals as well as theremin, typewriters and bin lids. Electronic rock. Tres French. Limited edition green translucent vinyl.
