William S. Burroughs
Curse Go Back

This scarcely-released-before William Burroughs work has everything the Burroughs fan could ask for: cut-up techniques were used to create both the text and the tape-recorded reading of the text, so this is a plenty messed-around-with piece of sound poetics. Not to mention old Will’s amazingly craggy voice. Clear vinyl in an edition of 500 on London’s superb Paradigm Discs label.

William S. Burroughs
Call Me Burroughs

Superior Viaduct reissue William S. Burroughs’ recorded debut, Call Me Burroughs. On this vinyl LP the avant garde master reads from his work. Merging politics, satire, sci-fi, cut-up techniques, beat culture and more, the words are utterly incomparable and Burroughs’ voice is equally unique; gravelly, powerful and melancholic.

Nothing Here Now but the Recordings

Something of a lost classic, Throbbing Gristle’s Genesis P-Orridge and Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson hooked up with William S. Burroughs in his infamous NY pad ‘The Bunker’ in 1980 to assemble these recordings: spoken-word, cut-up sound collages and field recordings abound. Dais Records are making it available on vinyl for the first time since its 1981 release, but with only 1,000 records pressed you gotta be super-quick with this one.

William S. Burroughs
Häxan: Witchcraft Through The Ages

Benjamin Christensen originally released the film 'Häxan' in 1922 , a film which Sotpackan claim was based around "vignettes" of witchcraft and the conspiracies around it. William S. Burroughs clearly got wind of the press release, saw the word "vignettes" and decided that he, with his barely connected prosaic prowess, was born to work on this film. And so a 1968 version of the film was born, this time with an avant-garde score from jazz man Daniel Humair and narration from master of vignettes Burroughs. Here are the resulting sounds for your ears.

Let Me Hang You

This remarkable record is centred around William S. Burroughs reading extracts from his gloriously disgusting tour-de-force Naked Lunch. On Let Me Hang You, his incredible voice is surrounded by the music of Bill Frisell, Eyvind Kang (who recorded with Burroughs when he was alive) and King Khan (who finished off the project in the present day). Gnarly words and groovy jams. On Ernest Jenning.
