It was only 2016 when I was sat here in this very chair writing about his last album 'Skilled Mechanics'. If I remember correctly I really enjoyed it, impressed by Tricky's hushed vocal style. Imagine how anticipated this would be if Tricky hadn't made a record since 'Maxinquaye'? As it is it has almost completely under the radar this week and only got noticed when I was clearing out the bottom of the review box. As often with Tricky it's collab heavy with a half the worlds music population involved at some point.
I’m not a huge Tricky fan by any stretch of the imagination, of his nine albums I have bought two, “Maxinquaye”, his debut and his 2013 effort “False Idols”. I read that 'Knowle West Boy' is a reference to the council estate in Bristol where Tricky grew up. He said that when he goes back there that people are pleased he's done well for himself but "I'd still get knocked out if I got mouthy in a bar".
