Bis be back! Again! After having broken up and reformed a couple times since they started out in 1994, the Glaswegian band look like they've stuck with a bit longer this time with Slight Disconnects, their second album in five years. After all this time Bis remain masters of the indie pop chorus, and have even managed to fit in a bit of reflection on the last 25 years.

Celebrate the upcoming festive period with Scottish indie-pop adventurers Bis, who have decided to do a Christmas single. You Wrecked My Christmas on the A-side is a catchy, punky Bis original, wheeras the B-side contains a cover of Saint Etienne’s I Was Born On Christmas Day. 7 inches of festive fun on Snowflakes Christmas Singles Club.
One for all you fans of day-glo buzz pop. Scottish indie veterans Bis play a brand new song that apparently has gone down a storm at their recent live shows. Overleaf young Reading upstarts Big Zero make synth driven pop fun that sounds like Devo hanging out with Weezer. Just 500 of these little blighters.

‘Keep Your Darkness’ is a brand new, limited edition 7” from Glasgow’s barmy indie poppers Bis, featuring a trademark raucous cover of Susan Fassbender’s ‘Twilight Cafe’, a relatively unknown figure that Bis apparently have a lot of love for. The single is a precursor to the forthcoming ‘The Anthology – 20 Years of Antiseptic Poetry”. Expect to hear the usual bis influences: early Human League played by Adam And The Ants, and a signature triple-headed vocal squall from singer Manda Rin.
‘The Anthology – 20 Years of Antiseptic Poetry’ celebrates 20 years since the formation of Glasgow indie pop trio Bis with a double CD and download collection. Featuring 42 tracks including Peel Sessions, favourites ‘Eurodisco’ ‘Kandy Pop’ and new single ‘Keep Your Darkness’, this collection is a definitive retrospective of the band’s career and essential for any DIY music, Riot Grrrl or punk fan.
Please note, I Love Bis refers to the Scottish indie-pop band, not the Japanese idol-pop collective… This right here gathers up tracks from the rare early Bis EPs, recorded and released throughout the 90’s. Consequently we get to pan through lots of different Bis styles! On Do Yourself In.

It all comes back round again doesn't it? There's no doubting that Bis were a fun proposition back in '96, they even got on Top of the Pops and even I, the most doom laden man in the West Riding, owned a copy of this heap of shiny pop fun. 2014 style it comes with a CD full of bonus stuff. New Wave, Disco and Synth pop collide in a heap of techncolour fun.
Bis have taken a big step away from their petulant disco pop punk beginnings. They seem to have spent some serious time with synthesisers, they've become sophisticated and considered and created something that's uplifting and beautiful. 'Return To Central' has been lovingly crafted to create cinematic waves of euphoric sadness but somehow you still feel like you're in an adventure game and you might win.
It's fair to say that Bis weren't meant to last. It's funny seeing them with longer hair, more expensive clothes and big buget videos. They kind of look like children dressed as adults. Still, musically the pop hooks are still as vibrant as ever. 'Action and Drama' perfects their catchy brand of new-wave pop that sits at the exact midpoint between Blur and the B52's. Comes with a heap of extra tracks including the fan-favourite 'Music For A Stranger World' mini album.
I am frankly just a little bit disappointed that this is not a record by the Japanese Idol-Pop group of the same name… Instead, what you get on data Panik etcetera is a trio of Scots making new-wavish punky indie-pop! This is the first new bis material since 2003, so something of a momentous release. On Do Yourself In.
