After two techno albums for Kompakt, The Orb’s main man Alex Patterson wanted to create something more expansive and less predictable. He was keen to work with more people and use more vocals too. The result is No Sounds Are Out Of Bounds, The electronic duo’s guest-heavy 15th album. It features guest performances from Hollie Cook, Roger ‘Brian’s Brother’ Eno, Youth, Steve Hillage, Jah Wobble and renowned session musician Guy Pratt. Double vinyl LP on Cooking Vinyl.

God bless The Orb, always one of the finer production squads within the ambient house / dub-electronica works. They’ve recently celebrated the twentieth birthday of Berlin’s Shitkatapult label with mix-CD, and here they excerpt some mixed material from Fenin and Bus, accompanied by an exclusive Orb track. Nice little 12” on Shitkatapult.
Third offering in The Orb’s Sin In Space remix series offers up another three high quality remixes of Orb tracks. This time round instead of reinterpretations of the same track there are three different tracks revisited by The Field, Dave DK, and Jörg Burger. Ranging from the dance floor ready to insular and deep, to shuffling pop flirtation, The Cow Remixes shows how far The Orb’s influence has spread.
Following the success of 2015’s Moonbuilding 2703 AD, The Orb return with their 14th studio album, Cow / Chill Out, World! Known for their genre-bending abilities and being equally comfortable with an experimental take on sound as they are with club-friendly beats, The Orb’s latest effort is an attempt at an ambient record.

Old electronic legends The Orb get remixed by newer electronic legend Prins Thomas, who takes a track from recent Orb album Alpine and takes it off in 3 different directions. 2 are variations on that space-disco theme that Thomas handles so nicely, and the third is a beat-free new agey vibe. Alpine Diskomiks - Sin In Space Pt. 1 is out on Kompakt.
Brand new music from ambient techno legends The Orb? Yes indeed, and on Kompakt too. Accompanying the full album Moonbuilding 2703 AD is this 12” of remixes, which features one energetic version by Teebs and two by King Kompakt Wolfgang Voigt (one of them under the name of Wasserman. Gorgeous warm dance materials, as ever.
Brand new album by The Orb, my my my! This is a major new statement from the electronic duo, with four lengthy tracks on the regular edition and a further two on the special, which is a triple LP + CD. All beautifully laid out by The Designer’s Republic and released by the excellent Kompakt label.
Rave pioneers The Orb are back on Kompakt with this 12” vinyl. On Alpine it’s as if the psychedelic electronica icons never went away; swirling samples are blended with synth pads and groovy percussion. This downbeat collection of droning dance music borrows from trip hop, minimal techno and ambient house.
Sheesh! The Orb's legendary debut LP gets a 4LP re-issue to mark its 25th anniversary. An odyssey of ambient and dance the record has many stand outs such as 'Little Fluffy Clouds' making it one of the few places where psych and dance properly collide. Comes in the original artwork. I'm not sure if there are bonus tracks as it doesn't say.

U.F.Orb was considered as a prog rock album by journalists at the time of its release in 1992. Now, The Orb’s second long-player is rightly regarded as a classic of the ambient genre. Alex Patterson’s ability to channel Eno-eque sounds and take them into a new musical era was strengthened by Kris Weston’s creativity and technical ability. U.F.Orb features guest appearances from Jah Wobble on Bass and Steve Hillage on guitar.
