The Dandy Warhols
...The Dandy Warhols Come Down

The Dandy Warhols Come Down was the Portland, Oregon band’s second album. It was released in 1997. It saw the band’s first taste of success - much to the chagrin of Anton Newcombe - containing the singles Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth and Boys Better. Greater success followed with subsequent albums and mega hit singles, but this album certainly showed they were destined for bigger things.

The Dandy Warhols
Why You So Crazy

Are they still at it? Do they still fight with the Brian Jonestown Massacre? Does the keyboard player still {snip - Norman lawyers}....well here we are then those the Dandy Warhols with their 10th studio album on their 25th anniversary of being a band a bit like Brian Jonestown Massacre. They wrote some pretty good tunes back in the day so we'll find out soon whether they still have it.

Walls Of Dada
Walls Of Dada

Walls Of Dada are not quite a true absurdist Dada performance act: they are actually more into coldwave synth-pop. One member of Six By Seven and one member of The Dandy Warhols pooled their collections of vintage synths and guitars and made this record old-style: everything put through amps and bounced to four-track machines, with only the most minimal of overdubs. Walls Of Dada is thus a proper vintage coldwave record. Released by Saturday Night Sunday Morning.

The Dandy Warhols
Distortland

So who won? The Dandy Warhols or Brian Jonestown Massacre? I think it's quite obvious on musical terms even if the Warhols may have more bulging pockets. There's not quite as much excitement about this album as there was for BJM's 'Revelation' and whereas that album was a tour de force of psychedelic musics rich history, this sounds like a band on autopilot. Still, if it gives them an excuse to tour and reel out all those old hits everyone will be happy.
