The Black Angels
Death Song

The Black Angels are so deep into the world(s) of modern psych-rock music that two of their members are the founders of Austin’s Levitation Festival, regarded the world over for his high calibre psychedelic music. Needless to say, their band are fantastic purveyors of the genre, and Death Song, their first album in four years, is a potent trip. Out on Partisan Records.

The Black Angels
Clear Lake Forest

Previously only available on limited 10" for RSD, features 7 entirely new tracks.  It follows their album Indigo Meadow (2013) where once again The Black Angels proved themselves the undisputed avatars of contemporary psychedelic rock. “Imagine tossing bands from the pantheon of American psychedelia like The Electric Prunes, Count Five, 13th Floor Elevators and The Seeds into your blender, adding a splash of Sabbath and a dollop of early Soundgarden or Mudhoney, and you’ve got Austin’s The Black Angels.” - Associated Press.

The Black Angels
Phosphene Dream

Phosphene Dream was the third album from psychedelic beasts the Black Angels and saw them make a huge leap forward from their early sludge 'n' drone approach. With the help of producer Dave Sardy (Oasis, Wolfmother etc) the band started to strip away at the murk and make a more varied record with nods back to the 1960s likes of 13th Floor Elevators and Pink Floyd.

The Black Angels
Directions To See A Ghost

Describing their music as "hypno-drone-rock'n'roll", the Black Angels actually make that brainwashing kind of psych rock where the guitars sound like a watch being dangled in front of you. 'Directions On How To See A Ghost' continues the political inclinations of the band's lyrical and sonic motifs, influenced in particular by the apocalyptic novel 'We'.
