Popol Vuh get the remix treatment on Editions Mego courtesy of Mika Vainio and the Haswell & Hecker tag team. I'm unfamiliar with the original of 'Nachts: Schnee' but what I'm hearing I can only imagine are elements of the original, tweaked but not beyond recognition then occasional bursts of sound come from different directions but its all very subtle in its execution with lovely layers of warm synths and drones. A genuinely sweet track that has lots going on compared to the current wave of drifty ambient stuff. The original version of 'Aguirre I' appeared on the 1972 soundtrack album 'Aguirre The Wrath Of God'. Again I can only assume this is faithfully taking elements from the original as the heavenly sound is similar to the A-Side. They've clearly introduced their experimental electronics over the backdrop adding a futuristic element. This really has inspired me to dig into the Popol Vuh catalogue. Ltd red vinyl 12".
