What their label says...

Released on Weekender Records and produced by Brian O’Shaughnessy  (Felt, Primal Scream, The Indelicates), ‘Victoria’ looks set to impress just as their self released debut single ‘Snakes And Ladders’ did earlier in the year.  Originally formed in Leeds but now relocated to North London, Official Secrets Act are a four piece indie pop band reminiscent of many great British acts with their Beatlesesque harmonies, new wave-ish energy and clever lyrics (not to mention the use of a harmonium!).  It is this eccentric edge that marks them out as different from other indie guitar bands currently around, creating a distinctive sound whilst bringing to mind something familiar and uniquely English (not least due to frontman Thomas Burke’s soaring and echoing vocals which evoke a bygone era). 2008 is set to be a big year for them with Artrocker declaring them their tip for 2008, Clash having them as ones to watch for the year and continued support from NME. This is the first of several Weekender releases for the band.
