Some strictly limited Static Caravan 7" goodness for you.. After covering some Eric Satie classics under the name Isan, Robin Saville is back under his real name with some pretty, sparkling, shimmering twinkles to soothe you through the cold winter nights and warm the cockles of your heart. The pristine production of 'Player Piano' adds to the childlike feel of the track. Fans of Isan or even Colleen will surely approve of this. This being a split single and all it features another artist on the flip. This time it's Dollboy A.K.A Oliver Cherer who you may recall had a split out on the label with Tunng. Here he adds his own vision and pays homage to a Bach classic 'Prelude No.1'. These pieces are called classics for a reason, the composition simply does not date. Cherer's take is refreshing, magical and charming. He draws on a similar pallate of sounds as Robin Saville which makes both tracks sit next to each other very comfortably. Hand numbered of 250 copies so be freakin quick.

Like Burton and Taylor, some artists and labels are always linked. Isan/ Robin Saville go way back with the Static Brothers and we are chuffed as can be to release Robin’s first solo single, a precursor for his debut album. Dollboy have also stepped inside the Caravan before, donning mittens and knocking back a Cab Sav while holing up with the extended family, otherwise known as those dudes from Tunng. Try finding that release nowadays. MC Doll (homeless Oliver Cherer) Boy and his producer (social worker Robin Saville) strode into the van with the idea of a split single, and who are we to turn our backs on such street savvy? It’s best to say that this hummus and sesame seed breadstick is a mighty fine appetiser for Robin’s debut solo album. Planned for a release with Static Caravan, it’s due to see the light of day in 2008. For the past ten years, Robin Saville has been precisely fifty percent of isan, a frankly seminal electronica outfit whose influence has been acknowledged around the world. This is his first ever solo release, a bouncy, weaving, piano-led lurcher which harks back to the duo's earlier, more carefree roots. He also likes to grow vegetables and make jam. Following a long list of highly regarded releases since 2004, Dollboy returns with a re-voicing of JS Bach’s Prelude No 1 in C Major (from The Well Tempered Clavier), a characteristically swoonsome piece of organic-electronic jingle-jangle majesty, featuring the sound of water-filled bowls and a 1942 glass glockenspiel. What ensues is two minutes of clicks, whirrs and beautiful sounds, bringing Bach into the binary age – kick back, grab a glass of red wine and admire the warm glow. 250 only seven-inch vinyl in a hand-painted sleeve.
