Well we're thinkin' of an album & single of the week. Everyone's laughing at Phil for suggesting Radiohead, a band who quite frankly have the world at their feet already & need absolutely NO help from us AGAIN. So I'm going to push for the freshly glossed up Sons & Daughters and their comeback single 'Darling'. It retains their bar room stomp of before sans the bloodied stiletto heel & smeared lipstick snarl of previous outings. This is more like a wide screen 60's Motown-esque , grooving radio smash with a smashing female lead vocal, an itchy compressed guitar line & celebratory swinging drums that could cause mayhem at your local disco. I can hear a harder take on what the Pipettes were trying to achieve. They're obviously going for chart glory with this bugger. CD is backed with a rousing live edition of a Johnny Cash classic & there's two different 7"s to tempt you lot of format hounds. On Domino.

What their label says...

Crackling tambourine, rolling bass, Glaswegian brogue and swinging pop melody, ‘Darling’ is the new single from Sons & Daughters.

·When a Johnny Cash inspired Glasgow garage band collide with the world of 60s girl groups and the seedier underbelly of British life, the result is ‘Darling’. As Adele explains, the song was inspired by the 60s movie of the same name starring Julie Christie as an It girl of her generation and its comparisons with today’s WAG culture.  ·The single will be available in four formats. Exclusive track ‘Ribbons’ and also a live version of hit ‘Johnny Cash’ will be part of the package. The B-side on the second 7” supports a remix by new Dublin songwriter on the scene Richie Egan’s solo project, Jape.
