This is the 2nd 7" single release from Leeds based band Downdime (the first 7" on Squirrel Records was limited to just a few hundred copies and sold out within a couple of months) Produced by Alan Smyth (who has previously worked with Arctic Monkeys) at 2Fly Studios in Sheffield , "Hate The Morning" is four and a half minutes of blistering , fast and raucous noisy pop music driven along by rapid fire guitars and melodic keyboards.The flipside , "Joanne" is a slightly calmer track that has been a live favourite of Downdime fans since their very first gig , and finally makes it onto vinyl here.Downdime have been quiet of late , but now they're back and working on tracks for their debut album.They've played gigs all over the UK supporting the likes of The Long Blondes and The Thermals , appeared at Alan McGee's Death Disco night at Notting Hill Arts Club and also performed shows in Amsterdam on more than one occasion.Their music has been compared to Boyracer , Flaming Lips and even Magazine a couple of times.
