OK here's a fantastic 12" by Why? called The Hollows on Tomlab of all labels. They appear to be tracks from the forthcoming album Alopecia due March next year. What we have is a great 4 track EP by Why?. I love the fact he's moved over from hip hop to a more poppy/ indie area and it works brilliantly. He's such a talented songwriter that you can't fail to fall for his songs at some point. The lead track The Hollows is one of the best songs I've heard by him.... Why? just writes excellent quirky pop music and it's executed perfectly. He may be a genius but I may be taking it a bit too far?? Pink vinyl only and there's an extremely understated Boards of Canada mix on there which is limited to this release. 500 only for the world.

What their label says...

*Lead single taken from their forthcoming soon-to-be wigsmasher, Alopecia.
*The U.S. (anticon)  and European (Tomlab) editions of The Hollows each boast
exclusive sleeves and three EXCLUSIVE B-sides. The Hollows EU edition brought
to you by Tomlab, features a warm, fog-horned and funked-up remix by BOARDS OF
CANADA of another unreleased Alopecia track, "Good Friday."And continuing the
theme, side B begins with a delicious slowcore cover of "Yo Yo Bye Bye" by DUMP
(James McNew of YO LA TENGO), and ends with ISLANDS tying off nooses in their
take on Reaching Quiet's blacker-than-black snowdrift of a song, "Broken Crow."
*Limited Edition Coloured Vinyl, Order Fast!.
*This latest blast of darkly tinted pop finds the Bay-based trio further
realizing their distinct sound-smart, shimmering, sweetly soured-while
expanding that ever-crooking subsurface smile we saw bare its teeth on 2005's
critically acclaimed Elephant Eyelash LP.
*Tracklisting: E.U.: A1.  The Hollows A2.  Good Friday (a remix by Boards
of Canada) B1.  Yo Yo Bye Bye (a cover by Dump) B2.  Broken Crow (a
cover by Islands)
