I've copped for all the indie today now Maggie baby no longer powders her cheeks at the venerable towers. Apparently Mingus is "the beard" and Phil is too weird. Also, Ant thinks melody is a make of chocolate bar from the 70's. So I get Correcto's debut 7" on Domino called 'Joni'. Which is not particularly groundbreaking I'm afraid. It sounds a tiny bit like old New York crew Unrest, in its pure catchy indie way. A very simple and short tune which ticks all the requisite radio play boxes. I could imagine it being on old Leeds imprint 555 or some such 90's DIY label were it not for the hi-fi production. It's very catchy but a bit fucking obvious! The B-side I've forgotten already and it finished 8 seconds ago...ho hum. They could be massive so be prepared to correcto (sic) me if I'm wrong HOHO!

What their label says...

The fantastic debut single from new Glaswegian four piece Correcto, who are Danny Saunders alongside members of Franz Ferdinand, The Royal We and Par Cark.
The band act as a who’s who of the Glasgow creative scene, with the members inspired by fact, fiction, surrealism and the mundane; and with sounds reminiscent of the Buzzcocks, Kinks, Fall, Ramones, “all the good stuff” as Danny Saunders puts it, the driving force who writes and sings on the Correcto tunes. ‘Joni’ is an instant classic - a direct, unhampered and infectious tune which will have you singing along in no time.
