I'm a sucker for Pinch's bass emissions. He hath a new on on Planet Mu. 'Pepper Spray' builds gradually with it's up tempo rhythms and sharp shuffling hi-hats. Hey guess what??? There's a fuck off big wobbler of a bassline. Lots of little sounds creeping in along the way. There's lots going on and it does feel a little busy at times, especially for dubstep which is usually pretty minimal. Meanwhile 'Cave Dreams' is more typical of the Pinch sound, far more spacious with the bassline doing the work at exactly the right point. A haunting, eerie sound that reminds me of classic FSOL appears and takes the sound to a new level. Good stuff.

What their label says...

Brand new 12" from the owner of Bristol’s Tectonic label, Rob Ellis.
lith a tempo closer to jungle than dubstep and a bassline to end all basslines, Pepper Spray will shake guts at a Dubstep night near you in the very near future.
The flipside sees a darker sound, still employing the same huge bass only Pinch knows how to achieve, combined with light pads and minimal samples.
