Apparently the big dubstep tune of the year is gonna be the 'Night' 12" by Benga + Coki. Both stalwarts and innovators of the scene (Coki being one of the Digital Mysikz). Unfortunately the promo I'm listening to is unmastered (presumably to stop piracy) so you don't get the full weight of the tracks. The percussion is top notch (that's my second use of that phrase today) solid basslines and a bit of a sci-fi techno feel. Ltd to 1000. I'm told everyone is going mental for this plate of skanking future dub.

Love this record? Hate it? Tell us.

What their label says...

Without any question, this is THE Dubstep anthem of 2007, possibly even a bigger anthem than Skream’s legendary late 2005’ ‘Midnight Request Line’. All the DJ’s want it, all the grime MC’s go mad for it, while clubbers are lapping it up too.
Available as a limited edition promo 12”, 1000 only... order fast!!
This 12" release heralds the graduation of Benga, from the name in every dubstep DJ’s bag to an artist whose acclaim reaches much farther than that of his own genre.
For the avid dub-steppers amongst you, this press release is almost inconsequential. For the uninitiated you need only listen to any show on Rinse FM, glance at the Hatcha & Crazy D playlist on Kiss FM, or Mary Anne Hobbs’ BBC
Radio 1 show to know that Benga’s is the name on every DJs fingertips right now.
’Night’ is actually a joint effort from Benga and one half of DMZ, Coki. When the South London pair got together they were on a mission to depart from the sound of previous productions.
’Night’ has been the one song you can guarantee to have heard in a dubstep club over the last 6 months. The
central reason behind this is ’Night’s’ crazily infectious melody.
’Drumz West’ features Benga’s trademark snare, forcing the listener to continuously shift focus between the skank-inducing bassline and the melody of the synths.
The final track, ’Emotions’ showcases Benga’s versatility revealing his affinity with house music. It’s perhaps this last track, which will raise most eyebrows outside of dubstep circles.
This single is taken from the forthcoming album ’Diary Of An Afro Warrior’, also to be released on Tempa.
