If Brian were here now he'd be wetting his pants at the new Lucky Luke single. He's a massive fan of their folkishness you know. 'Reynardine' is the title of their new 7" and it's about as folk as you can can get. Very celtic sounding which makes me think of Alasdair Roberts and Appendix Out. But then they are old folk ballads from the 1800's (ish) and it and it features the young Alex Neilson on drums (done stuff with Richard Youngs and that). So here are 2 delightful (and dark) celtic folk ballads to soothe your fat stupid life addled brain .

What their label says...

Two sinister and forlorn folk-ballads dating from the 1800s or earlier, played by Lucky Luke in their most elaborate formation,
including Alex Neilson on drums. These songs have been sung by many before them, including a young Shirley Collins and the unknown New Zealand soldier whom she cites as her source for Hori Horo. Lucky Luke bring loose, meandering arrangements to these ballads, with flute notes that flutter above and between the guitar, vocals, harmonium and bass, while the drums roll softly beneath and rattle occasionally forwards, warning of the dangers of strange young men on mountains high.
