Emma Pollock: 'Acid Test' 7" on 4AD, Twee indie pop coming across like a version of The Sundays say Mingus. I think it sounds an awful lot like the Delgados which is always a good thing. This is loads better than her last single. Great indie pop tune which is what the kids should be dancing to instead of all of that Hoxton mullet crap.

What their label says...

Taken from her eagerly-anticipated forthcoming album ‘Watch The Fireworks’, it’s a rousing follow-up to the radio success ‘Adrenaline’ which was released back in May. Having spent a decade in the critically acclaimed, Mercury Music Prize-nominated band The Delgados, Emma’s time is now.   Written by Emma and produced by Victor Van Vugt (Nick Cave, PJ Harvey and Beth Orton), ‘Acid Test’ was mixed by Grammy-nominated Jeremy Wheatley, whose previous credits include Razorlight and Corinne Bailey Rae amongst a host of other successes.Hook-laden and instantaneous with a full-throttle delivery, the ‘Acid Test’ is heartfelt track which sets raw lyrics against a vibrant array of electric guitars. The album ‘Watch The Fireworks’ is released later this year.
