There's summat about The Gossip that enthralls me & appalls me at the same time. I like big, attractive women with hairy armpits demolishing the charts 15 years after Kathleen Hanna & Huggy Bear had a go at whipping ver grrrrrls into a frenzy of man baiting.(Thought they were about female empowerment?-Mingus Rude)Then Kurt shot himself and everyone went boo-hoo.'Jealous Girls' is the new single, the CD has a shit hot live version on. Dunno about the 7"s. A conceptual artist has borrowed my decks. If this gets caned like 'Standing In The Way Of Control' I may just start to hate them a bit again. But she's no faker that Beth Ditto. She's just grabbing her 15 seconds etc & she's a proper sound lass with almighty lungs on her. This itchy, groovetastic electro rock tune is just purrrrrrrfect for drive time. The hideous Dolby-Anol mix makes me want to 'cut my own ears off or summat' (Sorry Brian -another Mingus Rude edit).

What their label says...

Their album ‘Standing In The Way Of Control’ has already reached cult status and is continuing to cause massive waves in 2007.Lead singer Beth Ditto is the being touted as the new rock and roll icon after topping NME’s world famous cool list.  ·‘Jealous Girls’ has been remixed by uber-cool indie-disco cats New Young Pony Club (the first remix by the band ever) and also from electro-clash pioneer Tommie Sunshine from Brooklyn NYC.  ·The package also contains the live version from legendary London punk cellar the 100 Club where the band played an early tastemaker gig last year.
