Little Dragon: "Twice" is her debut on Peacefrog. A very soulful, R 'n' B singer songwriter Yukimi Nagano who Phil reckons sounds like Roisin Murphy from Moloko but I reckon she's closer to Georgia Anne Mulldrew. Sultry, smoky piano, melancholy vibes on the a side, more uptempo beat driven flipside coming across like one of those American divas on the vocal flow.

What their label says...

The debut release on Peacefrog from new Swedish band Little Dragon. The contemporary pop soul of Little Dragon has already caused a stir with Radio 1’s Gilles Peterson and a limited 7” release from the band last year was single of the week in Rough Trade. Gothenburg, Sweden is a hotbed of diverse and escalating musical talent. From the mighty Soundtrack of Our Lives to idiosyncratic songsmiths José González and Jens Lekman, through to the unpredictable pop styles from the likes of Love is All and Audrey, not to mention the infamous black metal scene, Gothenburg now boasts the dynamic, organically soulful pop sounds of Little Dragon. ‘Test’ feels like zephyr on a summer’s day. Perkily relaxed and effervescent, this tune is summer all over. Locked down by wondrous echo chamber effects (somewhat of a LD trademark), this gem bubbles along with a solid b-line and leftfield twists and charms that make it seem flawlessly new and special. ‘Twice’ comes from the opposite end of the Little Dragon spectrum. Breathtaking in its simplicity, this minor-key piano ballad with understated yet richly effective strings that seem to bloom like a rose amid deft cosmic swirls, Yukimi delivers a poised but dramatically beautiful tale of regret, and surely announces the emergence of a genuinely significant voice.·Press – The Guardian, Clash, Mojo, London Paper, London Lite, Time Out, One Week To Live, Fact.
