Here's a new 7" by Gravenhurst called 'Trust'. This is the 1st fruits from their forthcoming opus Western Lands which I haven't heard so it may not be an opus. Clint is a massive fan of these so he should be reviewing this but he's not here so I will. I'm not a massive fan but I think they write some good tunes hither and thither and a talented bunch they clearly are. Mmmm. This new single reminds of The Velvet Underground crossed with Galaxie 500 and maybe some bits of Yo La Tengo (the less rocky bits) and on 2nd listen it's hitting the spot. An extremely worth thing of a thing this is.... Mmmmmm

What their label says...

‘Trust’ explores what might happen if you met your ex-lover’s ex-lover – probably not a good idea but the result is a beautiful, melancholic, pop ballad reminiscent of a folk tinged Belle & Sebastian or Red House Painters.  It’s a perfect taster for the quiet-loud-quiet album due out this autumn – a triumphant blend of space rock and lo-fi pop and easily Gravenhurst’s most accomplished work to date.  Bristol based Nick Talbot, Gravenhurst’s singer songwriter, is currently showcasing his delicate acoustic performances supporting Charlotte Hatherley.
