It's been a bit since we had anything in by The Flashbulb. On 'Flexing Habitual' he unashamedly wears the Aphex influence on his sleeve. He's good what he does though. Sweet melodies, beats all tightly edited and the tracks shift all over the place but keep a dancefloor groove throughout. He adds plenty of his own ideas into the mix which stops it being purely derivative.Blue wax 8 track min-album on Bohnerwachs Tontraeger. With a full CD release forthcoming on Sublight.

What their label says...

No introduction necessary anymore ... Benn L. Jordan aka The Flashbulb has proven his skills already when creating both emotional and heavyweight songs. Combining fast and hard breaks with his sense of humour. Surely influenced by early AFX, Squarepusher, Drill'n'Beats styles but always being The Flashbulb. Some might say this new EP is just Breakcore. Maybe it is but you all knew this was gonna happen when listening to his previous efforts. "Flexing Habitual" continues where his "Binedump EP" (from the "Kirlian Selections" album) left off. Faster, more precisely chopped breakbeats, more noise ... almost over the top. Holds follow up versions of "Lucid Bass" (Lucid Bass I and II released on "Red extensions of me" back in 2004) and one of the always uncomprising "Lawn Wake" songs. Plus "Chick Habit" which is some kind of polka fun track including vocoder voices over speeded up Amen breaks ... don't take it too serious ya know!
