Sir Richard Bishop of thee Sun City Girls has his new album out this week. Actually it did launch (my new word) sometime back on CD but now the vinyl is in we'll say it's out proper now. 'While My Guitar Gently Bleeds' is a complex album to review properly but as we only do 2-3 line snippets (more review-ettes really) then I'll proceed before I waste anymore of my previous lines. The opener is some beautiful Spanish style acoustic guitar strumming.... played with ample passion. Am sure his fingers really were bleeding!! The 2nd track is some feedback droney fuzz which brought Ant from out of his shell to comment that he liked that one. The final track is more passionate moving acoustic guitar which makes Ant want to throw plates. Anyone would think he was Greek or something. Ant the Greek. That's his new name. This is cool anyway and the 25 minute final track wins me over. Am suitably impressed.....

What their label says...
beautiful 180 gram vinyl. This is an essential document by one of America's most original and inventive unaccompanied guitarists working today. While My Guitar Violently Bleeds is a splendid three piece gem in which the good Sir branches out & nods to points west, east & otherworldly. Classic spaghetti western tinged spidery fretwork (“Zurvan”), Fushitsusha style feedback drenched psych decay (“Smashana”) and a brilliant lengthy raga epic (“Mahavidya”) round out the proceedings by the Sun City Girls master musician.
