Pete and The Pirates have a cracking 7" out this week called Come On Feet. I've not really heard much by these folks before so I had no idea what to expect. It's a great little single... Very wistful and tuneful and kind of rousing. There's a bit of 60's pop in there played with a slight off kilter New Zealand twang. Nice raucous guitars which towards the end sound like Pixies.... in fact there's a bit of Frank Black in there somewhere. All kinds of influences which make a tasty pie of fun-dom. Muchly recommended!!

THE PIRATES IDIOSYNCRATIC AND ENDEARING SONG WRITING PUTS THEM SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE FLYING NUN BAND TALL DWARFS AND THE WISTFUL REFLECTION OF ON THE BEACH-ERA NEIL YOUNG.
PETE AND THE PIRATES HAVE RELEASED TWO EPS ON STOLEN RECORDINGS ‘GET EVEN’ AND ‘WAIT, STOP, BEGIN’ TO GREAT REVIEWS. THEY HAVE JUST FINISHED RECORDING THEIR FIRST ALBUM WITH GARETH PARTON ( THE KILLERS, THE GO! TEAM, THE FUTUREHEADS)
