I've got Swedish popsters Loney Dear with I Am John who have created a 7" single of exquisite popness. A side is a dancey Belle and Sebastian pastiche with endogenous vocals very much similar to Stuart Murdoch or Nico. If your a fan of early B&S then your gonna love this. It's better than a lot of the other bands that are ripping them off. It's got that lovely air to it (like a deep sigh) that makes you forget about the worlds ills. B-sides not as obviously influenced with Parisian style mandolins shimmering away for the rising chorus and shines brighter than her more coveted A-side. She's as good as mine in the box. What their label says...

The sixth release on the Regal Singles Club label is from exciting Swedish multi-instrumentalist and home-recording phenomenon Emil Svanängen. After years of working away in his home studio in his tiny Stockholm studio apartment, or in the basement of his parents' house, the world has finally tuned in to the enchanting sound of his alter ego Loney, Dear. Since 2002, Emil has been recording and self-releasing hand-wrapped CDR albums - selling several thousand via word of mouth alone.

2006 was also the year for Loney, Dear’s first international release on UK independent label Something In Construction. ‘Sologne’ and the preceding single ‘The City, The Airport’ received rave reviews - the album making it to no. 27 in Rough Trade’s yearly round-up, whilst the single was included in The Sunday Times Culture ‘Singles Of The Year’ list.

Now Loney, Dear is now gearing up for his second UK album release – ‘Loney, Noir’ –  on Regal, part of the legendary Parlophone label, the home of one of Emil’s main inspirations – The Beatles.
