What another release on Electric Honey? I should have worn my kilt. Wake The President is the latest band to emerge from Glasgow's Stow College music scene. . They definitely have their own sound up there. It's one that's honest, hugely unpretentious and heartfelt. It shows that they're miles away from that fucking crap fashion scene in London.'Sorrows For Clothes' is a no messing guitar and vocal track with subtle percussion, quite charming indie pop. B-side is more of the same with intelligent lyrics with a slight political slant and is not unlike Belle & Sebastian or even Malcolm Middleton.

What their label says...

Stow College’s Electric Honey label is delighted to announce its new signing, Wake The Prsident, whose debut single will be released on 7”, the first time Electric Honey has released something on vinyl since “Tigermilk” by Belle & Sebastian in 1996. After being in University bands for over 5 years, Twins Erik & Bjorn formed Wake The President in the summer of 2004 and played several acoustic gigs in and around Glasgow. Recruiting a band in 2005 took the twins on to a new level in terms of their desired sound. Erik's lyrics are a bit of a conundrum... West End debauchery and deceit, however, seems to be a recurring subject, along with Jerome novels, infidelity and dipsomania. Whilst Bjorn’s guitar is very much influenced by Postcard-era James Kirk and Felt’s Maurice Deebank.
