THE BUG: "Jah War" ft. FLOWDAN on Ninja Tune, despite slipping in and out of his sub-bad boy patios this MC led bass heavy dancehall destroyer packs a mean punch as you'd expect from The Bug, but it's the Loefah mix that does it for us, with its low slung skank and spacious feel ruling the roost. An instrumental would have been cool though...

What their label says...

'Jah War' is an explosive collision of toxic ragga and filthy grime. The first recorded meeting of The Bug's bombastic bashment, and Flowdan's dancehall infected verbal intimidation. The Bug (aka Kevin Martin) approached the ruffneck rapper after being consistently blown away by the lyricist's stand out live appearances with the UK's leading Grime crew Roll Deep. Flowdan was invited to spit on a ten strong MC clash put together by The Bug for Radio 1's Mary Ann Hobb's Breezeblock show, and the baritone boom electrified the raw, rugged, bass heavy backing tracks. The pair instantly agreed to follow up the radio set with studio work. 'Jah War' is the first of these intense collaborations.

The flip features Dubstep's heaviest producer and co-founder of the infamous DMZ label/night, Loefah. Approaching the low end specialist was easy choice, as Loefah and The Bug have been running BASH, a monthly Dancehall/Dubstep club night at Plastic People in London, since the beginning of 2006. Having previously had material released on Aphex Twin's Rephlex, Kid 606's Shockout and Austria's Klein, 'Jah War' marks The Bug's first release on Ninja Tune. Having been publicly praised by such maverick's as Radiohead's Thom Yorke, Lamb, Massive Attack, Jerry Dammers, Mark Stewart etc..., The Bug's follow up album is sure to increase the pressure.
