OREN AMBARCHI: "Lost Like a Star", ltd. to 650 on Bo'Weavil recordings. Two compositions utilising electric guitar, bowed instruments, samples, bells, cymbals and percussion. First side was composed for a Japanese dance troupe Gekidan Kaitaisha, while the flip is from a live recording for Australian TV. As you can imagine for an artist involved with improv, electroacoustic and experimental noise the attention here is one of concentration and/or intensity of sound; building & developing out of sustain, resonance and repetition with spacing/silence critical to the framing of particular sounds and textures. Another lovely release from Boweavil is the limited vinyl by the great experimental guitarist Oren Ambarchi from Australia. A Touch label recording artist, Oren has been making music since 1986, creating sounds from the guitar that one would not expect to hear. On this LP two long tracks one per side, start from minimal low frequency sounds to ever growing drones of manipulated guitars.Oren Ambarchi is an electronic guitarist and percussionist with longstanding interests in transcending conventional instrumental approaches.
