AMON TOBIN has hooked up with KRONOS QUARTET for 'Blood Stone'. The quartet provide the haunting strings and piano then Tobin drops a mammoth slow heavy beat for a brief moment suggesting that the track will build. Then it disappears leaving the listener anxious as the sounds of the quartet become even more spooky, playing backwards and generally all over the place. The only exclusive track on this 12" is 'Here Comes The Man' which has his trademark sound. Squashed breakbeats, a slight jazzy feel and futuristic soundscapes. Bizarrely Ninja Tune have issued the double LP and CD 'Foley Room' the very same week. I can hear a lot of Brazilian influence in his percussion. Which makes sense I suppose as he is brazilian. Both formats come with a DVD and artwork that's reminiscent of Autechre's 'Second Bad Vibel'. I've not heard all of this LP but what I have I actually quite liked.
