Finally I have VOXTROT with their new single Trouble. The verse is a Belle and Sebastian inspired vocal delivery over a pop piano, then  the chorus kicks in like a dandy swirling around a secret garden. Pretty pretty... very much in the classic pop mold with major use of tambourine and stomping kick drum and snare combination to heighten the sense of drama. B -sides a another fey number.. I never knew they were so lavender and frilly with even the bass forcing you to bounce around with your hips. Pretty nice in a Queen/Mika pure pop clever way.

Last year was a busy time for Voxtrot. Show stealing SXSW performances captured the heart of new label Playlouderecordings and a deal was promptly secured, tours ensued here and across the pond where they sold out two consecutive headlining shows at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom in November (aided no doubt by their earlier Spin.com ‘Band of the Day’ accolade and a whole lot of love and championing from tastemakers Pitchfork).   Limited to 1000 copies
