First up we have local lads the PIGEON DETECTIVES with Romantic Type on
Dance to the Radio. Always the bridesmaid never the Bride these
lot. They have been supporting a few bigger bands and whilst its good
having friends in high places, one day you've got to stand up and be
counted. If 2007 promises to be a big year for them (so says the Sun!!)
I hope they've got a bit more in their arsenal than this single. Its
not that its really bad, quite the opposite, it fits in lovely with the
current scene and there is a danger that they'll sink beneath the waves
from bigger and better bands. Lead track Romantic type is a
guitar led laddie sing along with hooks and drum fills and ticks all
the boxes of the blueprint of a modern rock song. Sounding a bit like
Milburn, Harrisons and many other bands of the moment. 3rd track is a
Buzcocks "influenced" song we reckon here. Final track Mislead is more
melancholic and quite Trancey with its repeated vocal line. I wish them well
Love this record? Hate it? Tell us.
