Great 7" in from APARATEC, a man who's obviously been hugely
taken with Aphex Twin's recent Analord series. He's got this
limited 7" of bendy as heck acid electro that's really bloody accomplished
& fresh.. 1st tune has juddering squelches that wobble frantically over a
hybrid of foot to the floor breaks & solemn synths that falls somewhere
between 'Fenix Funk', mid 90s Squarepusher & possibly Vector
Lovers. He tones down the pace for a straightish emotive electroid piece
with warm synth strings & some deft programming. Side 2 brings back the
burbling acid & the jagged pulse-quickening Analord-isms, keeping the
pace with 2 further excellent tunes. He's the first person i've heard to utilise
that sound & for him to be progressive with it without resorting to plagiarism
earns him big brownie points. I bet even AFX would be impressed with the
lad's fantastic efforts. It's his keen ear for warm melodies & tidy, playful
beats that makes this 7" such a damn treat. Free CDr of the tracks for the
less analogue inclined amongst you! On Erased Tapes & hugely
limited!!
