Enjoying this barmy new(ish) VARIOUS PRODUCTION 7". One side sounds like a cross between
Mike Skinner & Dizee Rascal falling down a Rhubarb & Custard splattered staircase of sliced up post grime beats & cartoon
basslines. Reminds me a bit of the
8 Frozen Modules 'Don't Mug Yourself' mash up from years ago.
Good fun. The remix of 'Home' on the flip is pretty damn cool. The
original spook folk masterpiece is layered with much harsher digital
layers & slicing future beats that amazingly does little to detract
from the delicious soulful beauty of the original. Where the album has
still to grab me as a whole, these beauty little 7"s in their
fantastical sleeves continue to impress me lots!

The tracks on this latest 7” will not be on that album. However, if you salivating at the prospect of another of their unnerving excursions into moody electro-folk, wipe your chin, as 'Bruk' is a stomping example of what they do equally expertly with a beat, a bassline and an over-excited MC. On the B-side, the new mix of 'Home' also adds some determined rhythmic pressure to the original harmonised vocal version. It's grime, Jim, but not as we know it…
