So now to the bands of today that actually matter. Cos they're good, rise way
above the hype & release thought provoking, original music. Arcade Fire are
Rough Trade's latest bagging & with immediate effect they make me think of
The Walkmen. FB says The Waterboys but his hearing is tuned into a rusty
wireless in an underground bunker in Shitflap, Nowheresville. There's dozens of
bands you could namecheck but I'll just say this Montreal 5 piece are a shining
beacon of hope in today's cannibalistic desperate musical climate. 'Funeral' is
a lovingly packaged collection of great rock songs Grand, stirring, fascinating,
moving & incredibly adept & accomplished. 10 tracks on CD & G/Fold
vinyl.

What their label says...
'Funeral' is the debut album from Canadian five piece The Arcade Fire. Written and recorded at a time when close familymembers of the band had passed away, the album draws on these experiences and mixes them with a sound which has been compared to the likes of Echo & The Bunnymen, British Sea Power, and Gang Of Four.
