Phil can't listen to Tindersticks without thinking of Vic Reeves hilarious club singer skit on Shooting Stars. This wildly unfunny revelation does nothing to taint the fact their debut is possibly one of the most magnificent records ever made, the sorta opus that you cling to for dear life when the floor drops out of yr life. Ant ponders Nick Cave meets Nico on this new ltd 7" by singer Stuart A Staples. 'That Leaving Feeling', a distant cousin of der 'Sticks Travellin' Light'. He's right & yes, Staples has got his very own niche that needs to be regularly filled with gorgeous Nancy 'n' Lee-esque vignettes. Another swooning classic from the godfather of melancholy.
