Quite like Be Your Own Pet but just can't shake the idea of them just licking shit off Karen O's heels for nickels. There's a fiery energy & fine understanding of the dynamics of punchy, punky guitar rock but the sound is just to derivative to truly stand on It's own. See also Sleater-Kinney's more recent stuff. I suppose there must be space for 'Fire Department' in anyone's heart (it's a great tune) & I can deffo see it being a growling smash at these trashy indie nights so beloved of today's fashion victim NME casualties. but no. I'm too old for this crap so I'm gonna take off this Rough Trade 7" & try....
