M.I.A. is a lady originally from the Middle East as far as I can remember
& decamped to London to begin a career as some kinda dancehall diva &
has been snapped up by the usually canny (see above) XL. Now this
is pretty good. It utilizes the refrain from the Um Bongo commercials of my
childhood & is nice 'n' summery, chilled & bouncy. Called "Sunshowers"
it is. Now I feel the need to vent my frustration here. I heard a song by her 6
months ago on Radio 1 called "Galang". Then nothing. Can't find it
ANYFUCKINGWHERE!!!! It was supposed to come out on Showbiz but never surfaced.
Even got a review in Vice! Where is it? I want my copy of that now! Someone help
me..... AAARRGGH! In the meantime we'll have to make do with this which isn't
quite
as good (but still a damn sight better than what's to follow...)....Harumph....
