City Slang have released a 6 track EP by Calexico. Well actually the CD is 7 tracks as it includes some enhanced nonsense. Primarily a remix project as it has remixes by lots of people who remix things. People such as Jazzanova (has to be the worst name ever...), ISO68, Weschel Garland, Panoptica and The Gotan Project. The lead track is pretty damned good and brings to mind John Barry and Portishead which is right up my alley. Then it enters remix heaven when the afore mentioned people take the mantel. The Weschel Garland mix sounded rather nice I thought in a Manitoba/ Fourtet way. Panoptica do the Mexican Tijuana thing but as it was remixed there that's probably no surprise. The bottom line is I thought this looked quite rubbish and it's actually quite nice really. Black Heart is on CD and 12"
