I need brightening up....hey look whose coming along the road - Teenage
Fanclub with their brand new sparkling pop record. They always seem like
such unassuming chaps and aren't afraid to wear a comfortable jumper with
pride. As usual there's a host of 60's derived melodies with soft vocal
harmonies but this time the production by John McEntire of Tortoise is
tight and clean giving it that Chicago sound as peddled by folks like The Sea
and Cake. It sounds mighty fine to me and the songs sound much
stronger than the frail 'Howdy' record they did a few years ago. A Clint
pick of the week.
