Repressed after a year or more out of print, ‘This Right Here Is…’ is a compilation of several tracks from the ‘Talkin' Honky Blues’ and ‘Square’ releases, plus a handful of material available only as B-sides or online exclusives, along with reworkings of older material in his current style. Although it lacks -- narrowly -- the thematic coherence that made ‘Talkin' Honky Blues’ a masterpiece, this is quite certainly an essential release by an artist who should in an ideal world spend much of his career reshaping popular music, his off-kilter reading of hip-hop tradition just  that good.
