Too Pure's wonky chanteuse Scout Niblett always throws up the goods. Her
cracked & schizoid attitude to music making I find utterly beguiling, kind
of like a crazed hybrid of Cat Power & PJ Harvey. Less solo on this outing
with a more sonically adventurous drummer in place, Albini's dense & intense
production values are shoved brazenly to the forefront creating a breathtaking
vortex of airy sound. Songs rise, build & breath, Repetition is oft
employed. I am enjoying this tons. Cat Power is uttered in the background but I
hear shades of Shannon Wright too. The disjointed eccentricities &
incoherent sketches of yore have become fleshed out & realised as powerful
songs in their own right whilst still retaining a simple, minimalist coda. The
gal done good!
