Clint. The first disc I have for review this week is a lovely one by King
Creosote called 'Rocket D.I.Y.' Its really the most impressive thing I've heard him/them do. Its
lovely quaint Scottish pop music that kind of reminds me of being on holiday in
a Scottish coastal resort as evening falls, the lights twinkling in the
distance. There's some great banjo playing and melodica too. It's all very
homespun but the songs are very strong. I guess the nearest comparisons I can
think of are early Badly Drawn Boy and a smidge of a rural Belle and
Sebastian here and there. Of course this is part of the Fence
collective so if you like their stuff you are going to love this. I think this
is way superior than most of that stuff and could elevate King Creosote
to James Yorkston like status. On Domino/Fence.
