Ok. There's only one thing as exiting as the prospect of a new Queens Of the Stone Age LP for me & that's fresh stuff from Richard D James. All you AFX freaks out there will be aware of this Analord binder frenzy with several of us gleefully giving Rephlex our Saturday night beer money/cash mugged off old lady/drug money or freshly laundered wonga. Well mine's stuck @ the sorting office but I've heard it (Vol 10) & It's a double sided diamond studded beauty. Volumes 1 & 2 are now available for the more cash strapped amongst you to buy from us & other shops that aren't as great (hehehe...) so here's a brief resume. Volume 1 is like an analogue acid mini LP, distinctly the work of AFX in places but a little underwhelming in parts. He seems to be visiting old haunts & leaving his fresh scent there. Highlight - the wonky acid electro of  "Where's Your Girlfriend", best title - "Grumpy Acid". Volume 2 is a different beast. Some Human League 80's synth wash buried under his quirky, melodic, future-techno with the usual array of discreet gurgles, blips & electronic micro glitches. Then a retro techno interlude to finish side 1 then "Pissed Up In SE1" kicks off the flip & just comes across as unmemorable filler to be honest. The final tune is pacey, understated techno that is truly classic AFX sounding. So roll on Vol 3 (or 6 or whatever the demonic hellraiser wishes to fuck up next??)
